Must Have Gadgets

I had a fit of deep cleaning today. I, by no stretch of the imagination, have an extremely clean house. We sleep on the same sheets for at least a month or two….or ten. When I sweep my kitchen floor it creates a dustpan full of broken crayons, lunch from two days ago, papers from our craft projects, and every pine needle within a five mile radius. And, the bottom of my laundry basket hasn’t seen the light of day for months. My only excuse is that I have four children…home with me….everyday…..24/7! I don’t know what excuse I’ll use when they are all grown up, but I’m sure I’ll think of something.

But in my years of housekeeping I’ve come across some invaluable tools that I often hit my head and think,” Why didn’t I think of this sooner?” And even though this may sound like an info-mercial by the time I’m done pimping these things, please know that I’m not getting paid for this in any way. And if for some reason you are part of a big corporation who just happened to stumble across my blog and who wants to bless an emotionally exhausted mother of four with bags of free products, well, you just go right ahead honey!

First is my giant pizza cutter given to me by my BFF. Folks, it ain’t just for pizza. If you have any kids that still need their food cut for them than this is the key. I just roller over their pancakes, chicken, grilled cheese or whatever and it’s just so much easier. If you get a good one, it cuts through everything.

Second is my Magic Eraser. This thing is amazing. It’s like a big eraser for your stains (hence the name). Today I got crayon off my kitchen counters, years of grease buildup off my kitchen cupboards, permanent marker off my computer desk and the ring around my bathtub is gone!

Gone, I say!!

And to top it all off it came off like chalk on a chalkboard. I didn’t have to scrub my arm off for hours only to wake up the next day and realize I couldn’t reach the top of my head or zip up my jeans.

So, here’s hopin’ I just made some other tired Mom’s day a little easier. Oh, and if you have some gadgets that you can't live without or have made your life easier....please share!

Go see what other great ideas are in store for you at Works For Me Wednesday.

I may just get a Pizza Cutter. That sounds like a great idea.

FYI...you can get store brand "magic erasers" at discount stores like WalMart or Target. They work just as well, and are much cheaper.

Thanks!

I love the Magic Eraser too! Just last week, I used it to get red paint off my white car from a minor accident. Paint I said! I am enthusiastic with you. Happy erasing!!

Oh and magic erasers quickly remove scuff marks off the floor too. It is true.

I love magic eraser. It is the only thing that cleans the grease off the walls above the stove.

Oh, the Magic Eraser has improved my life in so many ways. It's FABULOUS when you are trying to sell a home and finally remove all those scuff marks from the floors and walls... And make those old bathtubs look about 20 years newer. And you didn't hear it from me (especially if you are from some rich corporation that is not ALDI), but you can get these babies at ALDI now. Yes sir, Freshine Eraser Sponge Pads; that's what they're callin' 'em.

yeah, i love the magic eraser too. works great on my shower. i thought there was going to be more to the pizza cutter though. like some neato trick it could do with your laundry or something. one of my favorite cleaning tools is the dog. no prerinsing of the plates and plus she gets all the crumbs off my floor. you might think i'm joking. i'm not.

Amen to the sheets (glad I am not the only disgusting one in that department) and amen to the pizza cutter. I use mind all the time

I knew we were both cut from the same brilliant cloth... I love both of those things, too. My pizza cutter was also a gift to me from my man; he was tired of seeing me cut every pancake and waffle and slice of pizza with kitchen shears.

I am a huge fan of the magic eraser.

I do have a pizza cutter and for some reason it has never occurred to me to use it on anything but pizza. Thanks for the tip. :-)

I'm a gadget queen also! I love the magic eraser! I can understand have a house that never seems clean...I have 4 children as well!

Last week I had 2 days home with no children. Grandma & Grandpa picked them up & took them to the lake for a couple of days. I slept in & cleaned my house! Now I'm on them constantly about picking up after themselves!

I never thought to use my pizza cutter for everything. I still have to cut up 5 yes 5 plates of feed each nite. By the time I get to mine I just want to stick my forl in it and bite it off (lol). I have the big pampered chef one and I love it. thanks for the tip and I love the magic eraser too. I first discovered it when my son used a black crayon on the newly painted walls a few years ago.

I love those magic erasers. I got mine at the Dollar Tree and they work great! I keep a stash of them all over the house. They are so great for getting scuffs off of the wall or a quick clean up of the sink!! Thanks for the tips!

I'll have to try the pizza cutter idea! It sounds like it would be a lot easier (and faster) than my current methad.

I just LOVE magic erasers! I have my three year old trained to go get the magic eraser and clean up his crayon messes. (You know, when his crayon slides off the edge of the paper) He just loves to be the one to clean it up. Me too!

I too love my pizza cutter. With little ones it's an essential. I've never used the Magic Eraser though. It sounds like an excellent product. Thanks for the tip!
