It's A Wonder I Even Manage To Get Dressed Somedays

On days when my list of things-to-do is longer than the 24 hour M.A.S.H. marathon on TV, I have to grit my teeth and ask for help. The teeth gritting isn’t because I’m a control freak…necessarily…but because I have four children who walk behind me and either quietly undo what I’ve just done or do things so…um…creatively that I am compelled to do them all over again.

Really…I’m NOT a control freak. (Sharn, you stay out of this one!)

I’ve been promising Allegra a pair of flannel pajama pants for months. I’ve looked at the pattern, washed the fabric, and ironed it.

That alone took me 6 weeks.

So finally the other day I layed it all out on my work table in the basement, and instead of blogging or paying the bills, or making sure the load of towels got into the dryer, I pinned the pattern on the fabric.

But then life intervened and Chris needed me to make copies and phone calls, and then there was a fight I needed to break up, and then it was time to make dinner, and THEN I had to run Allegra to the church, so I never got back down there.

Oh, but Gabe did!

The next day I found all of my pins very neatly removed and placed back in their magnetic pin holder.

Helpful little munchkin isn’t he?

And then, Gabe and Malachi decided to help me unload the dishwasher….with their toes…while sitting on the counter.

They get points for creativity but I know how dirty those toes were. We might have to go ethnic and eat Indian food with our hands this week.

Train them up in the way they should look for ways to help and it comes back to bite you! Funny stories, though. I love the line about taking 6 months to wash and iron the fabric. That is so me, too!

Impressive if no dishes were dropped from the toes and broken

I am really impressed by the toe technique. And long term projects are a good thing. "it took me 2 years to make you those pajamas and you just throw them on the floor? Do you know what we all went through so that you could have those pajamas?" Work it, Mamma.

I have a friend with one child who "washed" the cereal bowls by putting them down for the cat to lick. Yes, they went straight into the cupboard afterward!

See, it could be worse. :-D

I hear ya, sista! Is it any wonder I end up staying up late into the night just to accomplish a few more things?!?! :)

If the boys didn't have arms, that would have been impressive, not nasty;)
