Good Family Movie Review!

We are constantly on the search for family movies. Normally our choices are a cartoon with cuss words and sexual innuendo that we hope the kids are missing, or a movie that is so poorly made and acted that you cringe through the whole thing. So when I come across a good one I like to pass it on.

Our latest treasure is called Stranded. It’s based on the Swiss Family Robinson story and was shockingly well done. We all loved the Disney version from ages ago, but let’s face it, it was pretty darn cheesy. This one is updated, but without throwing in the modern cliché’s, sensuality, and blood that Stupid-Wood (Hollywood) thinks we want to see.

It has pirates, swordfights, and innocent romance, an example of a solid, hardworking, healthy family that prays and works together, loyalty, love, humility and all kinds of good stuff in it.

So run to the video store, or Netflix, or Blockbuster and rent this one.

***Disclaimer – we all have certain things that are hot buttons when watching movies so let me forewarn you that “damn” is in there a couple times and because it’s an action/adventure movie there are sword fights and shooting. They are great about not showing any blood or wounds during the fight scenes although one of the family gets shot in the side and they show a tame blood stain on his shirt.

We actually saw this on tv a couple of weeks ago and it was fabulous. We all loved it. Great family movie.

That is so great- my kids have just finished Swiss Family Robinson and I was thinking about getting the version we watched as kids. I will rent this instead I think.

Thank you for telling us about this movie. We have a TV guardian on our list of things to buy next. We are sensitive to the cussing, however we have found there are ways to block it. You can also purchase movies from cleanfilms.com and they will take that stuff out for you!

I added your blog to my thursday thirteen this morning. (13 of my favorite blogs.) I hope you don't mind.
