I was a bed wetter. And I rejoice in the fact that I just used past tense. Because there were times that I thought I would never stop wetting my bed.
It didn’t stop by the time I was five….or six….or seven. And it wasn’t until I was eight that I felt secure in the fact that I would awake to dryness in the morning.
I remember one time when I had a bad dream. I crawled into bed between my parents in the middle of the night. I felt so snug….so safe….so warm….so wet. And so did they. I had peed all over them in the middle of the night.
Another time I had a friend stay the night. We slept downstairs on the pull out couch where, much to my friends’ surprise, she awoke with a start as a slow creeping wetness worked its way over to her side of the bed.
Rather mortifying, I must say.
But I remember the dream like it was yesterday and it was always the same. I would dream that I woke up, walked into the bathroom, sat down and was safely doing my business on the toilet only to rudely awaken when my dreamy brain sent out a does-not-compute signal as I started to feel damp.
And once you’re going, there’s no stopping it, right?
So Allegra (10) and I had one of those deep mommy-daughter moments today while driving to visit my 97 year old Grandma. We shared our bedwetting dreams. And you know what? They were the same dream! Now either it’s a generational thing or I’m thinking I’m not as weird as I once thought.
Did everyone have the Neener-Neener-You’re-Not-Really-On-The-Potty dream? Or am I just a weird-o?
Come on, I can take it!

Can't say that I have, but i did decide to just pee on the carpet under my bed when I was 4 instead of walking upstairs. I am not sure how many times I did it before my mom figured it out. I was astonished that she could tell- nothing could get by mom! I can only imagine how gross it smelled- apparently I didn't notice at the time.
Oh wow . I wasnt a bed wetter but later when I was 13 it happened to me once. I had that same dream and wetted the bed. Stange but true. I was so upset about it and then my Grandma told me it happened to her a year ago. I guess you brain and body are working together or something like that.

I can't join your fun dream club, but I am going to ask my daughter (who wasn't dry at night until almost 8 and had to take medicine) if she had that dream.
I have one son who WAS a bed wetter. (Yeah, it's past tense too!) I'll have to ask him if he ever dreamed anything like that. I do know that he is a VERY heavy sleeper.
One time, and I was in high school. (I can't believe I just admitted that!)
i still have that dream. but now i know the dream so i make myself wake up. too many times that dream has fooled me.
I've never been a bed wetter, but I have that dream often. Luckily, I wake up to a dry bed, and quickly haul butt to the bathroom!!
Been there...done that...remember it like *yesterday*!!! Not a happier memory :)
Oh my goodness, yes, this would happen to me. Not only would I have the dream of being on the pot, but when I was on the pot, I fall asleep and dream I wasn't on the pot. I was in my early teens when it finally stopped. I use to get up and wash my bedding several time a week.
I really hated those dreams....

Found my daughter behind the bedroom door one night sitting on the trash can... My son wet the bed until he was 5 - don't know if he had that dream though. Seems like I wake myself up on occasion in that dream - luckily just in time:)
I'm 55 years old and if I sleep on my back it can still happen! Like you, I would be dreaming I was in the bathroom but now I don't sleep as soundly so I can wake myself up better. I'm so glad to know I'm not the only one having these dreams.
