A Ride On The Homeschool Crazy Train

If you're a homeschooler it's time for a ride on the crazy train. This is the time of year where we all freak out and panic about the start of school, share curriculum horror stories, and hope to find recommendations from other homeschool moms on new stuff that will make us all feel like we are doing a good enough job. So if you're interested, check my sidebar to see some of what the kids, as well as I, will be using to educate ourselves this year.

I always smile to myself at the new homeschoolers who talk about how much time the public schools waste: walking the kids to the bathroom, changing classes, moving from one subject to the next, etc. etc. Comics like this one are so true. I'm not sure we're any more efficient than they are most days. ;)

Our train left the station early. :-) We had about a 4 month break earlier in the year, so we started back in July. We are ALMOST done with the 5th grade. We are down to our last two subjects, and then we begin 6th grade in September.

(I am SO READY for a vacation.) ;-)

BTW... we use SOS for History, Language Arts and Bible; we use Math U See (Epsilon), Easy Grammar, and Considering God's Creation for Science. ;-)

Were you at my house when I was homeschooling my son. It sounds just like us. By the way my son is named Jason. I also tagged for a post.

Love the way you have the list on the side bar. That's a great idea!

We have gone through the Peace Makers series several times (once as a family and once as a co-op class, which I taught). I HIGHLY recommend it. :)

Oh man, I can so relate! That geography curriculum sounds great- do you know if there are world geography ones?

That cartoon definitely captures the essence of The Crew's homeschooling.

And it couldn't be any more timely because I am actually missing church today so that I can prepare for school to start tomorrow. I am wigging out because I don't feel ready.

We start our new school year Tuesday the 19th. No, not Monday, but Tuesday. Why? I have a hair appointment to get my hair colored Monday morning. Priorities. It's all about priorities. Okay. I actually made that hair appointment several weeks ago, and I back then I had not planned to start until the 25th. Much to my children's delight I bumped it up a week earlier, and I didn't want to change my hair appt (again, priorities :)) So, it's the
19th. I looked forward to it and dread it all rolled in one!!
