I'm not quite sure how it happened. I think magical little elves sneak into my children's bedrooms at night and whisper phonics sounds into their ears. But for what it's worth I've managed to turn my children into literate human beings.
(psst...that means they know how to read.)
So I'm on my very last child and I LIVE phonics right now. It's all about learning new letters and practicing words that have the same sound.
All. Day. Long.I say a letter and then Gabe has to come up with words that start with the phonetic sound for that letter.
And it's so different using phonics with my dauther..
P is for princess and pink and pretty.
But boys, ahhh them boys, they are so different.
Gabe's phonics practice went like this today.
B is for boogers
F is for fart.
D is for dirty dog
S is for snot
I'm so happy to be educating the young minds of the future.

LOL!! Sounds like he's learning, though! :)
The beauty of home schooling. You get to adapt the learning to the child.hahahaahha
Gayle, I missed out on a whole other world not having boys, didn't I? Mom
What fun little boys are huh? Gotta love em though. I swear they are easier than little girls at times. :)
Mom,
Well considering the fact that I turned out to be Dad's fishing buddy and inherited his sarcastic sense of humor I think you got a little taste of it.
Too funny, Gayle! My boys would get along very well with yours!
LOL
I totally hear you. The other day Matthew said to me "Boys Fart and Girls Toot". He's three and trust me ALL BOY!!!
Oh one day I'll hopfully have a little princess...I love my boys to bits but geesh I'm so out numbered!
I think my boys used the same phonics program... doesn't carry that well over into public school though ( ; Too bad... they'd probably boost test scores.
Those phonics words will come in handy when wooing the lady...roflol!

A couple of disclaimers to this comment:
(1) I know this is not the most recent post, but it's a very appropriate one on which to leave this comment.
(2) I do not normally leave comments inviting people to come over and read my blog.
That said... I actually thought of you and your boys when I posted this evening. Adolescent boy "humor"-- need I say more?
I just found your blog and this post is hilarious! In our house, "T" is for "toot" and "S" is for "stinky" and that's from my 5 year old daughter who is dressed like a princess...lol...
I had to read a few posts to my hubby who laughed right along with me!
