The Girl Gets Serious For A Moment

Probably the most important thing I did today besides feed my kids, wash some clothes, paint the last room in my parents new house and answer urgent e-mails was the thing that took me a whopping 15 minutes to accomplish.

Chris and I sat on the couch, discussed our political opinions and voted with our absentee ballots.

When we had littler kids it was always such a hassle to get down to the polls before they closed. So a long time ago we decided to vote by mail-in-ballot. Although I love the thrill of going down to the little booth and making an event of it, I have to say that I get even more satisfaction out of the tradition of making a date with my husband on the couch to talk over serious issues and prepare our votes together.

And this election is a big'un. So make sure you find a way to get your vote in. It's REALLY going to count. And if you are interested in an absentee ballot being sent to your house go HERE.

We just had our federal election and it was the lowest voter turnout ever- about 58%. not good, but many were unhappy about an election even being called. I think it is a great privilege to vote and take it seriously. Good for you for making sure to take part.

Atta girl! :)
I voted absentee in college, but it really is such fun for me to go to vote, and drag the kids along. :)

We absentee ballot too. However we bring it down and drop it in the box. I'd worry about the PO getting my vote there.

We (me and hubby) voted by mail this year too. So much easier then dragging kids around and waiting in line! It was great to talk with hubby as we voted too!

I voted! Absentee, because going to places I'm unfamiliar with...well, I have issues. :)

Absentee is a great option for some BUT are you gals aware that absentee ballots are not counted unless they need to be? Like in FL in 2000? So absentee votes are in essence tie-breaker votes. Vote at the polls if you can! I get to drag a 16 months old, a 3 yr old, and a 5 yr old. Perhaps they will let me cut in line. :-)

Jen,

Washington State is actually ALL absentee. We don't get a choice to go to the polls anymore. And I'm pretty sure my vote gets counted. If that's true about Florida then something needs to change. Wow!

Well, that just sucks! I know different states have different laws and I hate that. The whole system needs to be re-vamped. I do know in FL in 2000 absentees were part of what decided it. There are lots of absentees in FL with so many snowbirds/part time residents.

I am a nervous wreck over how this is going to go down this week. I really think no matter what, there will be drama. I keep reminding myself I lived through '92 and I'll do it again.

Romans 13! Romans 13! Just keep chanting it. :-)
