What's That In Your Eye?

Sometimes I wake up in the morning and I'm already out of patience. I don't' know what happens to me during the course of my sleep but I'm already prepared to lose it with the first problem that arises.

So in my efforts this morning to get breakfast made, kids dressed, the Suburban loaded and all of us out the door for our final soccer game, I realized that I couldn't find my organizer that had the address in it for one of the players that we needed to pick up. And yep, I lost it. I blamed everyone in my way, I stormed through the house upending stacks of books and papers, and it wasn't pretty. When I finally found it, it was exactly where I had put it...under the bottom of one of my OWN piles on the kitchen counter.

I was relieved but not sufficiently apologetic yet.

As I switched from Jekyll back to Hyde I stopped at the hall mirror on my way out the door.

My husband tentatively asked what I was doing. I'm sure he was frightened to even talk to me after my tirade.

"I have something in my eye and I'm trying to get it out, " I said.

He started laughing maniacally. He could barely speak.

"What?" I asked.

He replied, "Could it be that giant plank in there?"

Man, I hate it when he's right.

"Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? (Matthew 7:3)

I hate it when that happens too! No real reason to be so impatient right off the bat, but it's there... the ugly monster of impatience. And no real way to explain why. (sigh)

ouch. I am glad to know that I am not the only one suffering from plankitis.

Gee, your husband is ballsy.
(Is that a word out west?)

I wish that story did not resonate with me at all. I hate when I see Cruella DeVille staring back at me when I look in the mirror.

Loved your bible reference. I do think your husband was quite brave to comment though... :)

He's brave...

I'm gonna take the plunge and make laundry detergent Gayle. Aren't you proud of me! I found some fragrance at Walmart for $1.47. I'll let you know how it goes. ~K

Good thing this has never happened to me! Otherwise my husband would be without a head. ;)
I can relate on so many levels, friend! Thanks for letting me know I'm not all alone!
