Carnival Of Bloggy Stories

Chilihead has a really interesting bloggy carnival going on about our stories and how we came to be a part of the whole blogging shebang! Go check out the links to read some fun stuff.

How did you start blogging?

In December 2005 it was our 11th wedding anniversary and Chris and I had a chance to get away without kids. We headed to the beach for 3 days of kid-less fun. We rode bikes on the beach, went in the hot tub without kids splashing around, and had long uninterrupted talks. It was amazing. I had been so wrapped up in the care of our four kids that the content of my conversations usually involved references to bowel movements and leaking breasts. I was blown away by this new awakening of the adult side of my brain and came home determined to put my thoughts in writing. Thus began my blog.

Did you intend to be a blog w/a big following? If so, how did you go about it?

Heck no! I just wanted to keep a record that I indeed DID think about more than if the penny Gabe swallowed was really going to come back out the other end.

What do you hope to achieve or accomplish with your blog? Have you been successful? If not, do you have a plan to achieve those goals?

The only goal I have is to use my blog to keep me sane. My success is still in question.

Has the focus of your blog changed since you started blogging? How?

Yeah, the deep thoughts went right out the window and now I blog about all the stuff I was trying to escape. Instead of it stressing me out now, I try and see it from a lighter point of view….and that’s where the sanity goal is achieved.

What do you know now that you wish you'd known when you started?

Comment often! If you love getting them, so does everyone else!

Do you make money with your blog?

I actually do which is pretty darn cool. It’s not enough to make a dent in anything but it’s cool to have some fun money every now and then.

Does your immediate or extended family know about your blog? If so, do they read it? If not, why?

My whole family knows about my blog because I have my kids so brainwashed to keep an eye out for blog material that it comes out in conversation. My mom is a faithful reader but I don’t know if anyone else reads it.

Hello….anyone out there?

What two pieces of advice would you give to a new blogger?

Write in your own voice! Don’t try and be like someone else.
Oh, and laughter is the best medicine!

Great answers! My blog will never have a big following, I just don't have a gift for writing. I just want to somehow feel connected with other people who do not call me mom! I'm not sure if I'm on your bloglines (not that I have to be) but I think that since HSB updated my RSS feed actually works.

It makes me laugh too. I loved your answers. I like how you set out to write deep thoughts, but now write about the everyday things. I like to do that too and to find humour in everyday moments.

You were one of the very first blogs I ever found. I've now read a zillion, but yours remains one of my very, very favorites. You're gifted!
