My Nasty Nasty Car

My car is messy. Like, find-three-week-old-petrified-french-fries and lollipops-stuck-to-the-carpet, messy!

Yuck!

But I think I’ve finally got a solution!

I went and bought a little handheld car vacuum that plugs into my cigarette lighter and I keep it in the trunk of my car. So, when I’ve got 15 minutes until one of the kids is done with soccer and I’m just waiting in the parking lot twiddling my thumbs, or I’ve arrived at the library to find out it doesn’t open for another 30 minutes, I whip out my new best friend and vacuum all the scum that my kids have tracked in.

Now go check out more WFMW tips here.

I keep wipes in my car along with Febreze and do this same thing. Car line is the best time for me. Keep a Wal-mart bag on hand for trash.

ok i need one of those. does it really pick up good enough? does it pick up french fries (my shop vac does)? what about hard candy? broken crayons?

my van is a war zone.

yeah, we tried that...until my toddler/monster went and decided to see how it worked and took the whole darn thing apart.

your youngest isn't a toddler i hope?

cleaning the inside of the van... now there's a concept I hadn't considered. Maybe in a few years when it will actually stay clean for more than 2 seconds. I am so defeated.

But I like your vacuum idea. Neat.

What a great idea! Plus it would somewhat drown out the sound of my 2.5yo whining (he hates waiting in the car) - thanks for the tip!

That is such a great idea! Where did you get that?

Great idea! Will look on ebay for one of those!
The wipes and febreze would be a help too!

Good idea! I wonder how long it will be before they make a model that runs by itself? That would be cool! :)

Thanks for the idea!

I agree that that is a good idea. Here is my problem- I haven't found one super powered enough to withstand the abuse it will take whilst cleaning my van.

Awesome idea. The floormats of my car are always dirty and I never want to lug the "portable" but still heavy vac outside and vacuum them.

Great idea! I am definetly going to try. I also keep a swiffer duster in my car for when I'm sitting at a stop light or stuck in traffic. I can quickly and easily do a quick dust and things appear cleaner.

Good idea. We also keep a duster in the car. Each time we're waiting around we dust the outside of the car. Between that and washing the windows at every fill-up, we rarely need to put the car through the car wash. Really saves money since we used to have to wash the cars weekly.

Great idea!! We are going to be getting a mini Wet/Dry vac at ACE Hardware on Black Friday when it is on sale for $9.99 for our van. Love the idea.
