That Dorothy Sure Knew Her Stuff

While I have to admit to loving the fact that someone else made my bed, brought clean towels to me everyday and cooked my every meal for the last week, I was ready to come home.

By the end of the week I was clicking my ruby slippers together, hoping it was time to go home to my own bed, my own man and my sweet Gabies baby lips.

I was in desperate need of some kid smooches!

And now I’ve returned to a family who made some radical changes while I was gone. My hubby, the great and powerful Oz, decided a little bootcamp was in order. He taught the kids how to sort and do the laundry, how to cook a meal and load the dishwasher properly, how to clean the house thoroughly and how to NOT complain while they did it.

All things they should have been doing anyway, but I was not willing to let go of the reigns.

Didn’t I marry a great guy?

I left last Monday, a stressed out mom with too many jobs in the day, completely overwhelmed and grouchy about my workload, desperately needing a little time away, and completely unwilling to pass off my jobs to the kids because I wanted them done “right”.

I came home to kids who didn’t even question or complain when I asked them to pull a meal together or throw in a load of clothes and fold the dry ones, or even work as a team to do the dishes and clean my kitchen.

It feels a bit like the twilight zone but I think I can get used to it.

So I’m in agreement with Dorothy…

There’s no place like home!

Wow. He's like a superhero or something!

Being away makes your appreciate what you have. works every time. Enjoy these first days of bliss....real life comes back way to quick.

(aren't I a nice little realist?)

So who gets to play the role of the Wicked Witch of the West?

Never mind. Welcome home. If your kids are like mine, they missed you as much as you missed them. Having the whole family together after being apart is about the best thing in the world indeed.

Wow! Maybe I should go away for the week! Maybe not.
I'm glad you're home again safe!

Does Chris do seminars? He can come over and run a boot camp while you and I have tea- served by the children of course.

Welcome home. Glad that you had such a sweet homecoming.

Hey, I see it now, a reality TV show called "Mr Bryant's Butt-kickin' Boot Camp"! Would you be open to co-drill instructors? I can send Dave right over!!!

So you're home now? Good. A mom can only be gone so long before she starts calling the house just to hear everyone's voice....

Heck, I go to Costco with my mom for a day and by mid-morning, I'm wondering how everything's going back at the Corral!

Your husband is great, so is mine, and I feel really really sorry for those moms out there who's husbands were not cut from the same cloth.

Anyway, welcome back!

Well, I was going to ask you to rent your Chris out for about a week, but I see that I have been beat to it. Still. I'm not too proud to beg.

Surely you gave the man something in return for such a fabulous getaway? ;-)

Wow, very impressive!

When I go away (as I will be doing this weekend), my husband doesn't exactly train the kids, and he lets them watch entirely too much television. However, he DOES clean the house. Shines the sinks and everything. Can't complain about that, even if the kids *are* frying their brains in front of Nickelodeon most of the weekend. I'm spoiled now to the point that sometimes when the house is really going to the dogs, I start thinking I should plan a trip away so it can get clean again.

Wow, I'm impressed that you let it happen, relinquishing control is so hard for me!
My laundry! My laundry! No, you have to do it this way! (Moo-hahaha! Wicked maniacle laughter!)

Hysterical! I loved all the comments too! I am forwarding this post to my husband. It will take him a while to get the hint. LOL! I don't ever remember being surprised like that when I came home. My hubby just thinks he shouldn't even try to live up to my standards. He never even attempted but I can still dream, right?LOL! I am a friend of EEEEmommy. I am new to blogger tranferring from HSB as she did. Welcome home! Keep those helpers in line after the kisses!
