What I Did Over My Unintended Bloggy Vacation

You know how you start back to school and your teacher asks you to write about what you did over your summer vacation? Well that’s what this post is….

What I Did Over My Unintended Bloggy Vacation (because if you haven’t noticed, I kind of vacated for the last few days)

In a nutshell…

My two oldest kids got their first real job. My hairdresser needed a dog walker 2 days a week and since my kids are homeschooled and available during the day, she is paying them EACH $40 a month to walk her dogs-that-are-like-her-babies.

Hello! I think I missed my calling. That’s a bunch-o-money for a couple of kids!

My bloggy friend Gayle W. (how could we not be friends, we have the same name?) officially jumped from the blog-friend list to the real-friend list by calling me on the phone this week. I love her! She is so real and funny and unpretentious and I love her! (oops, said that already) Plus she’s got this really cool southern twang that must be contagious because my kids kept asking why I was talking funny after I got off the phone.

“Ya’ll put yer toys away now kids!”

I’ve been frantically preparing lessons for some classes I’m teaching at our local homeschool co-op every Friday. I can’t quite figure out JUST WHAT POSESSED ME to teach 3 classes this time. I’ll be helping Chris teach some teenagers about the stock market, investing, and money management, then I’ll be teaching twelve 6 and 7 year olds how to tell time and count money, and then moving on to 10 pre-teen girls who will learn the art of crochet.

I prefer to think of it as just another opportunity to soothe myself with chocolate.

So that’s what I did while I was away.

And I really missed reading your blogs and hearing from you all.

We missed you too. So, did I really drive past you if I only drove as far as Seattle? That makes my heart hurt to think you were that close! Seattle is only 3 hours away so once Emily moves back we could all meet!

I'm with you - I always sign up to teach one to many classes at co-op. It's hard not to over commit. This semester and last I'm helping with a writing class (IEW) and the teaching is primarily on DVD. It's wonderful! No curriculum to create or develop, no energy required trying to make the little rascals LEARN. I just sit back and let Mr. Pudewa do the work.

I just love you too, girl!
I am with ya on the dog-walking thing...that's alot of moolah for letting a pooch pop a squat.

I love the new picture for your profile. You look cute!

And don't stop blogging again. It's hard enough being zillions of miles away from you. At least when you blog I get to feel like I'm a tad bit connected to you.

Wow, I'm so glad you are back, I kept checking and checking, and no Gayle!
Don't ever leave us like that again! Kidding.
Congrats to your kids on the dog walking, way to score some dough!

Yes, sometimes there simply isn't time for blogging. Sad! I wish I could join your crocheting class! :)

Okay, so maybe one of these days GayleW will cal me on the phone too........

Has anyone told you you're crazy for the three classes thing??? I can totally handle my own kids, no problem, but other people's kids?? I'll leave that to you!!!

Dog walking?? $40? Wow! Russell almost got a paper route job, but he balked at getting up at 5:30! Even for as much money as he would have made, that definitely tells me he's NOT a morning person!!!

When Emily comes home, let's get together.....for real!

I have missed your posts!
I am working on teaching all of my kids to sew and then crocheting for those who want to learn. It is a busy but fun season right now!
