WHO Feels Like A Woman?

Today was a bargain filled day. Emily and I took our brood and headed into the city to hit the Goodwill outlet to replenish our kid’s wardrobes….and ours if we were lucky.

TRACK DOWN ONE OF THESE!

They wheel out bins of stuff and then you dig, dig, and dig some more for the bargains. Then you pay by the pound, people!

By. The. Pound.

Do you know how many items of clothing you can get for a measly $10? It’s crazy!

On the 40 minute ride down, our normal radio station started to get fuzzy so we searched the airwaves for a clear station and landed on my favorite…country! (I am SO kidding, I can barely stomach it. I bet I lost readers over that comment didn’t I?)

But the highlight of the day was when all three of my boys hollered, “We love this song!” and began to sing along with Shania Twain. It was a catchy tune, I’ll have to admit. Lots of Oh-Oh’s and such. But when the chorus came on and all three of my boys belted out, “I Feel like a Woman,” I nearly wet my pants.

That’s not something I ever thought I’d hear any of my boys say. And I really wish that I had a video camera so I could have taunted them with it 10 years from now.

Two things:

1) I'm totally jealous that you have a Goodwill where you can buy clothing by the pound. Ours is all $5 shirts and the like ($5 is TOO MUCH for a used shirt-- you could get a new one for that much and have an easier search).

2) The mental image of three young boys singing "Man, I feel like a woman" at top volume almost makes me pee my pants, and I wasn't even there.

We have a Thrift Store and I ADORE that place for all the reasons you mentioned.

I have come away with name brand stuff that was never worn (originally almost $100, on one pair of pants) for less than $5.

Girl. There is no shame in that!

And I am totally giggling at the boys singing to Shania!

Country is the BEST.

Start listening or else.

Hilarious!!!!

Do you really have to dig?? Through huge bins?? Does it involve mold or other substances that are untouchable??

See, if you hadn't noticed by now, I'm kinda snooty! I like all my stuff hung up and normal.....but $5 is too much to pay for a used shirt....

My plans for today include local thrifting. I saw two new children's resale shops on my way home yesterday from S&S Liquidators, which is a post in and of itself....

Maybe I'll have to step of my snooty horse and try the Goodwill outlet!

That would have been great blackmail material. I am sure you will lots more opportunities to find sufficient footage.

I love thrift shopping too. Glad you had a good day!

One thing you do have to their singing extravaganza is a WITNESS!!! One that will probably relish helping you taunt your boys ten years from now, or every year for the next ten years, or ESPECIALLY when they bring girlfriends home.

I love those kind of thrift stores. . . and I love that all three of your boys are "sensitive" enough to "feel Like a Woman" on a shopping trip! :)

I'm with seven... We pay $5 bucks for a used shirt here... I too would rather buy new on sale. I HAVE been to that Goodwill you mentioned. It took hours of digging (through clothes and crack feinds)BUT I DID get some major finds for cheap.

I used to hate country music too. That is until I moved out to the country. Now I get it and like it much better. Still not my favorite though. ~K

I LOVE the "by the pound" Goodwill! :) I go a couple times a year to the one on TV Hwy. We call it the "bulk Goodwill" at our house. :)

Blessings,
