After a busy day where I was gone from 9:30 in the morning until dinnertime, and my husband was expected to fend for himself in all things dietary, he confessed to me that he hadn’t eaten anything at all. No breakfast, no lunch and no dinner. NOTHING!
I prepared something for the poor guy, all the while mumbling under my breath because it’s just beyond my comprehension that my husband either didn’t know where the fridge was or seemingly forgot how to peel a banana.
I put it on a tray, carried it to him, and delivered it to His Highness. He looked at me gratefully and with a smirk on his face that acknowledged how ridiculous it was that he couldn’t manage to feed himself, he said this…
If you give a man a meal, you feed him for a day.
If you give a man a wife, you feed him for a lifetime.
And then proceeded to crack himself up.
Ha Ha, dear! So NOT funny!

My hubby is the same way. I tell him that he better die first then, otherwise he will die of starvation shortly after.
What a good wife! I think mine would have gone to bed hungry. LOL!
I hate to encourage your hubby's behavior... but that did make me laugh!

Wow, even though you were grumbling about it, you just showed all the rest of us how much you love him :) Some women out there would've never dreamed of doing what you just did. Thanks for the reminder, and the witness.
And yes... I agree... "men!!??" LOL.
His Highness is CRACKING us up too!! I read your post to The Engineer ~ who is quite familiar with "wait and starve" tactics!!
After his little quip I think the tray should be in his lap!
Oh man! Your husband must be a long lost relative of my husband's! Seriously. This man would do the SAME thing -- starve rather than heat something up! Our refrigerator is almost always full of leftovers. But I don't think he even knows where the microwave is! ACK!
My equivalent (when we're in USA) is that I don't get gas. :-) That's HIS job!
I work part-time on the weekend and the hubby watches our kiddos. My 12 year old son sets his watch alarm for about noon so that he can remind his dad to feed the younger kids. When he has forgotten to set it they have come to pick me up at 5 without having eaten all day. SAD but True. I just told my husband about your husbands comment and he is hysterically laughing.
The sad thing is that my husband ate and cooked very well (and healthy) before we married. Now I don't think he's made much more than frozen pizza (in the microwave) in the last twelve years. He is very loving and sweet but I do get very tired of providing every meal and snack for him. Have I trained him to be incapable by doing it for him or has he just started being lazy on his own? I don't know.
Oh my gosh that is so funny! Ok, your hubby made me laugh today. *grin*

I am blessed to have a husband who cooks when I don't feel up to it. He makes yummy authentic Mexican dishes too...mmmmm!
