Let The Games Begin

Tonight was the beginning of the round of Christmas parties that brings in the holiday season for us. We don't really celebrate with the whole Santa thing. Our kids always knew it was a person in a costume. But we also always told them that other people like to pretend for their kids sake that Santa was real so it was a big secret and they weren't supposed to ruin it for others.

They got a big kick out of playing along and being in on the secret but they would never sit on Santa's lap at any of the parties we went to. Because to them, it was some strange man (or on a few occasions, woman) that they'd never met before and I guess they've picked up my boundary issues because I'm really not a toucher unless it's my kids or husband.

But this year, something changed. I dont' know what. But almost all of the kids thought it was cool to cross the personal space bubble and sit on the guys lap.

And I have pictures to prove it

That's too funny that your older kids were for it.

Merry Christmas!

cute! I am scared to take my kids to see Santa in case my realist 5 yr old loudly announces to Santa that he knows he is not real. We all have fun pretending too though.

This is SO weird, I just blogged about my feelings on Santa? Imagine that, lol.

Yeah we don't do the Santa thing either...and my kids have been pretty good about not saying anything to the other kids (though I think they want to, they don't like secrets) I just feel sorry for the adults who say, "so what did you ask Santa for Christmas?", and they shoot back with "we don't believe in Santa." The adults look at me like I am such a mean mommy. But, I REALLY don't mind. And I know my kids don't mind, there such cute kids!

I have to admit, my kids don't sit on extended family members laps, I am pretty sure they would not give some guy they don't know the time of day.

Oh, and I use to be a non-touchy feely person like you. But then I noticed my favorite people in the whole wide world are those that run up and hug me and grace me with a smile, or warm touches. I'z got to thinking one day (odd but true) that maybe I could grace others with that same warmth, so now I am a touchy freak...okay does that sound weird?
