A - Rush to the nearest tall dune grass? (Hmm, it was right in front of the restaurant windows. Not something I want to see if I'm getting ready to shovel a nice chunk of clam chowder into my mouth.)
B - Rush him back to the hotel? (The way he was dancing, we weren't going to make it.)
C - Encourage him to just let 'er rip?
That's what I did. He didn't even care.
Pee one minute....
Play the next...

Good mommy!
I don't have boys ... but I think I might say, "How about a quick dip in the ocean?" Of course, now that our girls are a little older than your photo star they'd never agree to either, but when they were little there wouldn't have been a bit of hesitation .... and when we did get back to the hotel room they'd be squealing, "Dad! Dad! Guess what mom let us do??!!"
Hope you're having other kinds of FUN too -- other than the peeing kind, I mean!!
When a kid has to do what a kid has to do, I say just let 'er rip!
Mine once peed in the potted palm in the bank... which got me some funny looks, ( hey, I didn't even know until people started laughing!) but I guess it was either that or widdle on the carpet. ;-)
Life is so easy at 5 and 6 for that matter.. I have a 6 year old son..... so yea. :)
When he is older, he's gonna hate that you took those pictures. :) One word "Blackmail."
When we go camping we make BIF (bathroom in the forest) Dig a 6 inch hole with a stick, do your thing #1 or #2 and cover it back up. Use a leaf (non poison ivy type for # 2)
I'm not sure how you'd call it or deal with it at the beach. Hmmmm a BIS. Now as far as taking care of cleaning up after #2, that would be a challenge with sand, dune grass or seaweed as options....I don't think it's on the radar of doable especially in front of ocean view restaurant patrons. It could be entertaining....slightly!?
Your son will think the pictures are funny 30 years from now! Poor thing!!!
lol. I hate it when you tell your kid to do something like that and they freak out in protest and then people look at you, and think...what kind of mother are you????
Just in case you run into any stinging jelly fish there, it really DOES work to pee on the stung area...I made my son do that to his hurt foot once and after much fussing on his part, he tried it, and it did help with the pain. (I wasn't totally sure it would work as I had seen it on an episode of Friends years ago:)
Thanks for keeping it real, Gayle!
