Just In Case You Didn't Know....

I hate public speaking. I mean, how much anxiety-diarrhea can one girl have? (I lost two pounds, thanks for asking!) I had to speak at a meeting last night and in case I haven’t told you before, I write better than I talk.

The hours leading up to it, I was so nervous that I was twitching. I was restlessly bouncing around like it was happy hour and I’d been knocking back Red Bulls.

By the time it was my turn to get up there, I had psyched myself up with an opening line that got them laughing (I mean, I think they laughed. It’s all kind of fuzzy now.) But it got worse and worse the longer I stood up there. By the end of it I was standing with my legs crossed, hands in my back pockets, saying “Umm” a lot and wanting to crawl under the table in front of me.

So today is a better day. The house is empty while Chris takes the kids to Co-Op this morning and at noon today my magic carriage will arrive to whisk me away to the Women Of Faith conference for the weekend.

A weekend filled with shopping, eating, laughing, probably crying, and would I be Gayle if I didn’t say CHOCOLATE?

So I’ll start hitting the tough questions next week. Are you getting bored with those yet?

Have an awesome time! How often do your children attend co op?

I spoke on what a normal homeschool day in our house looked like and scheduling. (It felt eternal but was really short.)

And to halfmoon girl:
the kids attend co-op every friday morning for about 4 hours. This is our first year and it's a nice hi-light of the week. Something fun and different.

I'm so not bored with the fun question and answer thing......

Wow, you're so brave! I get phsyced so bad when I have to do anything like that that I don't even offer to do it....and nobody asks me. I figure worship every Sunday is enough and everyone is tired of me after that!!!

Women of Faith.....I went to WOF a few years ago. It was really good...have a fantastic time!

I am scheduled to speak at a local homeschool hybrid school (it's basically a cs co-op, I guess) and am dreading it. How do I get myself into these things, and why do people keep asking me to do it????

I'm sure it will come as no surprise to you that I am the exact same way when it comes to public speaking. I could "lose 2 lbs" too just thinking about it...LOL!
What in the world were you doing it for anyway? There is my question from a couple posts ago...I couldn't come up with one before. :)
Have a wonderful, Spirit-filled time at the W.O.F. conference.

DUH! Maybe I should READ the other comments before I post a question...

Ohhh, enjoy Women of Faith!!! I love, love, love those weekends!! Can I just tell you how normal you are? Almost everyone has a fear of public speaking and your audience is usually very gentle if they notice you are nervous and often have NO IDEA!!!! But I feel your pain. My work requires me to do some public speaking from time to time and I have anxiety every single time....I've even had to testify in court a few times....talk about serious anxiety!!! So glad it is over for you :)

Gayle - how fun (and I say that in the "oh, it would be so fun to hear you speak" not "Oh how fun to Torture Gayle". What all did you share? Are you going to include it in a blog post some time??

Have a great weekend!

Wait, I just reread that. You were there THIS weekend. You must have been at Portland too! Wasn't it great? Yay for Oregonians! :)

What purse personality were you?

WHAT!!!! You were at Women Of Faith??? I was too! Oh, this just kills me. We could have totally hooked up for a bit. THIS is why we need to keep in touch with each other a bit better. My heart aches at the fact I missed you there. Who else did you go with?? Not that I really want to know, it would just make me sad if it was another friend I was in the same building with... yet didn't see. ~Karlie

Can't wait to hear all about it. I was on my way to a meeting Sat. morning and couldn't figure out why there was so much traffic. Thinking the kindest of thoughts as I was late for my meeting I then remembered WOF. I keep telling myself maybe next year. But maybe next year with nsremom?
