Say What?

I'm a little speechless. I just went to the gas station and filled up my suburban to the tune of $154.

ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY FOUR DOLLARS PEOPLE!

The bad news (as if that wasn't enough) it's the only car that we own that fits my whole family, and it's paid for so I'm not interested in another one.

The good news is that we only drive it on sundays and wednesdays when we are all together for church. Therefore that full tank of gas will last us about 3 months.
We drive a much cheaper car the rest of the time.
How much is gas in your area?

Haven't been into town today but yesterday it was $4.05.

And we have the exact same rig! 'Cept mine has different wheels...and a couple less kids.

We are paying $3.79 in SE Texas - but we are literally only a hop, skip and a jump from the refineries - so they don't have to charge us much in fuel costs to get the fuel to us.
Ridiculous.

My husband's truck is diesel and it has been running about $4.55 a gallon. We had intended to take his truck out of town over Memorial Day, but it was $175 to fill it up and that would have given us our trip and barely make it to pay day the next week. We cancelled the trip and now it will last him about 2 1/2 weeks. WOO HOO. The same week I filled my little taurus for $60, so gas is killing my get out of debt budget.

I miss the days when it was under a $1!! Waste Management has started running their trucks of of the gas produced by the garbage in California and plan to begin to take it nationwide. I read that and thought, HEY! We have lots of trash!!

We are at about $4.37 here, I haven't filled my van in months because I get sticker shock. I go in $75 increments because most of the stations have a limit at that amount and I'm too lazy to insert my debit card twice :P I'm sure if I filled it, it would be about what you paid...UGH!

We're running under $4.00 (around $3.80 I think) and I thought that was bad. Yikes! We only fill up our Suburban in $60-$80 increments. We're in the same boat...car paid for, don't want another payment.

It's absolutely horrible and with no end in sight.

3.77 in our part of Kansas. A month ago when I was in Connecticut it was around $4.00. I'm sure it's higher there now.

My husband drives 25 miles back and forth to work every day. It's killing us.

I filled half a tank today at 3.94 a gallon (N. GA). Arrrggghhhh!
I drive a 12 passenger van so I do all of my errands on days I am going into town.
It helps a little with the cost but it would be even better if the price of gas would drop! Yeah, like that is going to happn.

I just filled up at $3.78 in Lolo, Montana!

it was $4.08 today in beautiful downtown Ephrata.

Gas is more up here still. We pay about 5.00 per gallon. Our gas is measured in litres, and it is 1.33/L. With the higher price of our ferry plus the cost of fuel, we are not traveling far this summer- camping close to home. We use our diesel truck to pull our 5th wheel, and diesel is 10 cents more per litre... so forget about it!!! It is great that you can make your tank last so long though by having a more efficient vehicle as well.

here in idaho we're paying 3.91 a gallon. our van just got totalled so we're looking for a small economical sedan. with just the 3 of us we don't really need a van or a big car.

hubby said that the oil commodities are starting to slowly come down in price, so maybe by Christmas! we'll see prices come down.

has anyone else noticed how gas stations will jump the price by 4cents, 7 cents or even 11 cents increments overnight, but when it comes to lowering it it creeps down by 1 or 2 cents at a time?

I paid $3.90 a gallon yesterday, which actually was a pretty good deal for North Carolina. Sadly, one tank only lasts me about a week. I'm hoping to squeeze out to a week and a half, now that I'm living much closer to work.

It is between $3.79 and $3.84 most places around here. I drive a VW Bug and it has been costing over $50 to fill it up. I remember taking a 20 dollar bill to fill up my tank and getting change back....good times!

Looks like us Canucks are paying even more than you guys! Gas here is slightly less than where Jane is out west. We're paying $1.30/litre which works out to $4.93/gallon. Crazy!! That's great that you can stretch out a tank of gas so long though! We minivan it wherever we go.

I was very excited today to pay $3.83 after a 10 cents/gallon discount with my Kroger Plus Card. I LOVE seeing your wheels. Makes me feel an itsy, tiny bit closer to you.

$4.01 the other day - roughly $50 to fill up the Grand Caravan SE.

Did you get the .17 discount?

UGG! Thankfully we live in a city I can ride my bike to the places I want...with my big basket on the front. Not that I do. But it's nice to know I can someday if I have to. For now, my tank is almost on empty and I'm putting off that trip to the gas station as long as I can!

Boy I feel your pain on this one.

Same as in your area, cause, uh, well, I actually LIVE in your area!!

We hardly drive our van long distances at all, so I think I'm the only one not freaking out about gas prices.

Canadians are really getting it though!

We have a suburban too. It is paid for and isnt' worth much at 120,000 miles and 10 yrs old. It's our only one with air. The mini-van melts the kids in the back. I am somewhat depressed about the gas prices. We are really hurting financially because of it:( Our church is a bit far and it costs us about $12 to go. Last I looked it was $4.08 here.

$3.90 in Massachusetts & rising. I read it's best to gas up on Tuesdays because they crank up the prices on the weekends....

Over here in the Netherlands it's around USD 9,50 / gallon (euros and litres converted to dollars and gallons). Ouch! But to be honest: our distances are much smaller, seeing that we're a miniature country. So I suppose if I try, I can still feel your misery. ;-)

I guess I should have filled up earlier this week, today I went by and it's up to 4.69/gallon!!!

holy smokes! $154! I cringed when I had to pay $85 to fill up my truck($3.80 here in missouri) It only gets 12 miles a gallon so I am so glad summer vacation is here so we can stay home.

I live in Malaysia, and we are paying RM 2.70 per litre for petrol which is less than a dollar in your currency

I know I'm leaving a comment on an "old" post but gas prices are my pet peeve! I live in Central Florida and we are paying about $3.95. I'm not allowed to let my suburban get below 1/2 a tank. Our other vehicle is a small, small truck that seats 2 comfortably. Therefore I'm spending almost $300 a month just in gas (by the way, we live about 10 miles from the nearest store so walking is kinda out! :-0
