Entering Girly-World

It’s gotta be tough being the only girl amongst three brothers. Allegra has grown into a sweet little mother for the younger two and an adoring fan of her oldest brother. But the games that get played around our house are usually of the build-it-and-knock-it-down sort. Or better yet, the shoot-it or wrestle-with-it sort. So surviving in her world has taken on an If You Can’t Beat ‘Em, Join ‘Em attitude, to which she has adapted quite nicely.

And that makes the girly times even more important for us. In fact, the older she gets, the more fun we have together. We went shopping the other day, just the two of us, and had a total giggle-fest in the dressing room. We tried on and spun around and commented on what we liked and didn’t like and it was just like hangin’ with my girlfriends.

Oh God, please keep it that way for us!

So today we had another foray into the girly world and the tables were turned. The boys had to step in and enter the land of tea parties and pedicures.

I practiced my French pedicure skills on Allegra’s toes and the boys had to assist by handing me the polish, files, clippers and such. She loved the fact that they had to be a part of HER kind of play.

And then we had a tea party! The boys helped decorate the table and, of course, eat the food. Allegra insisted that they have good manners.

And it didn't hurt the boys one bit, although I'm sure they thought it would at first.
