Sweet, Sweet Gabe.
The boy who cut Malachi’s favorite blankey while he was asleep…
The boy who taught me the value of a good quality diaper…
The boy who likes to create new recipes in the kitchen…
The boy that I desperately need a two hour mid-day recuperation break from…
Has no more need for a nap.
I figured this out the hard way.
When we were putting him down for bed at 7:30 every night with the rest of the kids, he wasn't really falling asleep. When Chris and I would go to bed at 11 or 12 we would find him still awake, rearranging furniture or unrolling toilet paper rolls.
That was my clue that he was getting too much nap during the day.
So we kissed naptime goodbye a few weeks ago.
And now he passes out by 8pm.
And sleeps a glorious 12 solid hours at night.
But I also can’t get a dad-blamed thing done all day.
Yeah, this is me complaining.

Farewell, sweet naptimes, hello "quiet book time" in your room. Perhaps with just a shot of Benedryl.
I feel for ya. My boy wasn't a impish terror, but when he was almost-three, and I was ginormously pregnant with his sister (and therefore most in need of that afternoon nap time!) he got to the same point of being awake until very late, so we had to get rid of the naps. And we had to toss them out completely, because he was one of these kids that had to sleep until they woke up, as far as naptime went, or he'd be completely miserable the rest of the day. So it was all or nothing. Urgh.

I absolutely love the hour or two of quiet that I get during naptime, and I hate it when the kids decide that they no longer need one. :-) Even now though, after lunch the kids who need a nap sleep, and the others have to have 'quiet time'...usually reading or quietly playing in their bedroom.
Saying good-bye to naps is such a drag! Hopefully your guy finds a hobby so he can give you some free time during the day!
Oh, I hear you on this one! My almost 3 year old is pretty much done naps- the thing that wears me out is that he still gets tired and as a result gets very WHINY. Yuck, I am not a fan of whining. (ok, even though I am do it myself)
I do have to admit that I love naptime for Sofia....
I know I can confess to you, dear friend!!!
LOL!!!
Poor Gayle......

I understand! I'm a nap Nazi myself. I will need to hire help once Screech stops napping.
I'm right there with ya and I feel your pain!
Let me know if you find a solution.
Oh, you poor, poor girl. You deserve the complaint. I detest it when naptimes cease...I kissed mine goodbye a little over a year ago. ;(
I don't look forward to this! I'm still in the land of naps...in fact, that's how I'm able to be on the computer right now! You've taken away my hope...
:)
